A record was just broken for Piedmont Bass Classics (as far back as I can remember) in the Cashion Fishing Rods 'End of Year' Team Tournament Bass Fishing Trail Qualifier #7 at Shearon Harris this past Saturday!
The Alabama Bass Trail completed its 2nd highly successful season this past Saturday with a great Championship at Lewis Smith Lake. Just look at the leader board below and you can see the two day event had plenty of drama. Here is a re-cap with some pictures of the final day:
Big weekend for David Loyd on Douglas Lake as he brings in a solid 5.82 Lb fish to win the 9th event of the year for the Oakley Big Bass Trail. David went home with a $30,000 boat-motor-trailer package for his efforts. Congrats to David and all the anglers to showed up to tackle one great lake in East Tennessee!
Another 2 day championship slugfest ended with a 2 Lb win for Ben and Brandon Reynolds who hauled in 33.45 over the two days to take home a brand new Ranger Boat-Motor trailer pkg valued at over $35,000!! This is one of the top team trails in the country and proof was in the pudding with 116 teams showing up to compete for all the cash and prizes. Here are the winners and full results attached:
In all the years we have covered the rise of Andy Montgomery, never ever have we seen the emotion he displayed on stage Saturday afternoon for Day 3 and the final day of the Bassmaster Open here on Lake Norman. He headed into Sat in 2nd place behind local angler David Williams, who has won MANY, MANY events here on Norman. The weather changed significantly on Sat with blue bird skys and much cooler temps with morning lows in the low 50's. Everyone figured that the weights would be the best of the 3 day event on Sat, but that was hardly the case.
Another big day out on Lake Norman for Day 2 of the Bassmaster Southern Open..........unlike yesterday, the weather began to change for the worse after 12n and with that, we thought the weights would pick up. Not the case, as David Williams and Andy Montgomery maintain their first and second place standings heading into day three. The bite was more shallow than many predicted, and now its down to the final 12. Pic's and full results below:
