Plano Re-Ups with FLW, Including College Fishing Circuit

AnglersChannel.com recently reported that Plano Molding Co. had been bought by the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund (Teachers’). Under the new ownership, Plano has renewed its commitment to FLW. Plano Molding, itself, gobbled up another industry giant when the company acquired Frabil earlier in 2012. Now both brands will co-brand with FLW Outdoors for the 2013 season.
FLW announced today that Plano Molding Co., the worldwide leader in fishing tackle storage systems, has extended their associate sponsorship of FLW through the 2013 season. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Plano and Frabill brands will receive exposure across all of FLW’s platforms, including its tournaments and Expos, multiple websites, FLW Bass Fishing magazine and the “FLW” television show on NBC Sports Network. “FLW” is broadcast Sundays in high-definition (HD) to more than 559 million households worldwide, making it the most widely distributed weekly outdoors-sports television show in the world.
Plano Molding Co., originally founded in 1932, earlier this year announced the acquisition of Frabill Inc., bringing together its extensive line of fishing, hunting, golf and toolbox products with the North American leader in live bait storage, landing nets and portable ice fishing shelters and accessories. Plano will serve as the exclusive storage systems sponsor of FLW and Frabill will likewise have category exclusivity with nets. In addition, the Frabill FXE Stormsuit, which claimed the “Best Apparel” category at ICAST 2010, will be featured throughout FLW’s most prominent tournaments should inclement weather arise.
Plano will also offer a contingency award package for teams competing on the FLW College Fishing circuit. The program awards prize packages to teams fishing each of the 2013 qualifiers and the FLW College Fishing National Championship. To be eligible, college teams must register and wear a Plano patch on their tournament jersey each day of competition.
