Bassmaster Open pro Patrick Pierce punches up a 4-pounder from beneath matted hyacinths at the famed Bienville Plantation near White Springs, Florida! He gives a great tip on landing bass from the thick stuff. Then he takes time to show us how to snell a flippin' hook and rig up for mat-punchin' - a technique Pierce has used to cash numerous tournament checks.

Mark Hutson and Gary Elsey dominated the Santee Open Team Tournament on Saturday, April 27, bringing a 5-bass limit weighing 34.80 lbs to the scales to win  by almost 8 pounds. They took the first-place prize of $5000, and added $260 in bonus money for taking the 2nd Big Fish award with an 8.73 lb largemouth.Marc Deschenes and Ray Walsh brought what would normally be an impressive bag of 5 fish weighing 26.87 for second place and $2500. Ronnie McCoy and Kevin Bazen took 3rd with 26.44, good for $2000.
