Setina leads Brauer by ounces at Rayovac on Rayburn

Lake Sam Rayburn is higher than it has been in 15 years. A number of patterns are in play. Nearly all revolve around the flooded trees.

Spawning bass are tough to reach, but some are targeting them behind the shallow brush line. Others are fishing the deeper outside edge of the trees.

Joe Don Setina of Pittsburg, Texas didn’t catch a keeper until 11:00 this morning. After that he pieced-together a limit that weighed 23-06 to take an 8 ounce lead over Denny Brauer.

Brauer flipped today. Not news. He tore something in his shoulder. Bad news. He’ll have an MRI on Monday but for now he must fish mostly one-handed and employ an awkward sweep style hook set.

Ricky Guy holds down 3rd with 22-13.

Jeff Cade is 4th with 22-10.

Jim Tutt rounds out the Top 5 with 21-13.
